Girls Rock! DC is delighted to participate in Eileen Fisher’s “Creating Confidence” Campaign as part of their Supporting Women and Girls Program. On Saturday, September 22, 2012, Eileen Fisher will donate 10 percent of its proceeds from three DC-area stores to Girls Rock! DC. They will also donate 10 percent of all proceeds from designated online purchases to Girls Rock! DC when you use the code 529100. This is our BIGGEST FUNDRAISER OF THE YEAR so we need your help! Please spread the word to shop at Eileen Fisher and find great new digs for the fall. Store info is below and remember to enter the online code for Girls Rock! DC: 529100. The more you buy on September 22, the more Girls Rock! DC gets, and as a thank you, Eileen Fisher offers $25 off all purchases made on September 22.

We are working on this year’s Camper Guidebook, and are looking for awesome submissions from our lovely community of mentors and rockin’ role models, aka YOU!

Each year, we put together a Rock Camp Guidebook for campers, featuring essays, blurbs, various lists of tips, etc. written by our volunteers and women musicians — these writings cover everything from “How To Rock A Party” to tuning tips to a Rock Glossary. We also need visual art of all sorts (diagrams, coloring book-esque pictures, etc!)!

We want more and new content from volunteers this year, so this is a call for personal submissions to go into the guidebook. This is your chance to directly share a story, or words of wisdom, or your artwork, with the campers– these guidebooks are taken home and saved as a permanent reminder of Girls Rock, and all that it means (plus you can put it on your resume as a place you’ve been published!).

For each young person who has gone to camp at Girls Rock! DC, stepping out on stage at the 9:30 Club can be a celebration of their creativity and confidence. This year we are celebrating our own monumental victory; Girls Rock! DC’s Fifth Anniversary.

We started as a dream in the back room of a coffee shop with a small rag tag group of 8 women volunteers. In five years we have grown to over 100 volunteers per camp session and hundreds more supporters like YOU.

As we head into our record fifth year we couldn’t imagine Girls Rock! DC without your support. Thank you! To make another amazing camp season happen, we need to raise $40,000 before July. Your gift of $50 or more will help provide D.C. area girls with an experience they can’t find anywhere else.

We are dreaming big for our fifth year, and are looking to expand our week-long programming into year-round. Girls rock all year, why shouldn’t we support it? In our record year we hope to: hire staff, establish a gear and instrument loan program and provide after-school programming. Will you reach deep as we reach for the stars?
